Hey GlobeMed Fam!
Congratulations on making it halfway through this absolutely crazy semester! We are so happy to have been able to keep the GlobeMed community going strong, and even growing this year in the face of so many unique challenges. This is totally because of all you amazing folks, so thank you!
We wanted to give a mid-semester update on where we are as a club, and where we are going.
First of all, it has been great to see the GlobeMed community come together however we can despite the restrictions in place – whether it be virtually, every Tuesday night, or at club dinners. On top of that, we are so excited to be getting this GlobeMed mentorship program off the ground this year. An important part of this club is the connection between upper and lowerclassmen, so this mentorship program will be a fantastic way to provide even more of a connection between us!
GhU has also been very exciting this year, as we have discussed a wide range of subjects - the war in Yemen, the locust crisis in Pakistan, the impact of the bottled water industry, and so much more! We have also been able to have a guest speaker!
A key feature of GlobeMed has always been our advocacy pursuits. Though we cannot work with our advocacy partners in person this semester, there are still plenty of ways for you to become involved individually. Add our advocacy calendar to your Google Calendar to stay updates! (https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0/r?cid=Y19sY3Y1ZWQxMDExOWkzaXMxa2owcmJkbTFlNEBncm91cC5jYWxlbmRhci5nb29nbGUuY29t) Children’s Dispensary has been a great addition to our advocacy these past few years, and we are so glad to see that so many of you have embraced the virtual volunteering opportunities. Your time and enthusiasm mean so much. We have already been able to have an informal meet-up to make posters for CD’s fundraiser! If interested in more opportunities, reach out to beth@childrensdispensary.org to get involved!
Thank you to everyone for their support of and enthusiasm for PEDA, our partners in Laos. While this year looks quite different in terms of fundraising, our support of our partners is still a central part of our club. That’s why ND Day, coming up on October 26th, will be so important! Recruit your friends and family, and reach out to your alumni clubs! Every dollar counts for PEDA, and GlobeMed itself benefits a lot from high participation!
Moreover, we are planning on organizing a GlobeMed retreat coming up! Look out for more announcements soon!
As always, please check out our website (https://globemed7.wixsite.com/notredame) for any more information you might need about GlobeMed at ND. If you have friends who you think might enjoy GlobeMed, encourage them to join us, even just for one meeting to see what we are all about. We are always welcoming new faces and are happy to have you. Keep spreading the word!
We hope that you are all doing well and managing to stay afloat during this busy semester. Please take care of yourselves- drink lots of water, get some sleep, exercise, and spend time with friends! You are doing great so far, so keep it up and stay strong for the last weeks of the semester!
GlobeMed love,
E-Board
